This year’s Parade of Homes is right around the corner from June 10-18th! We have the pleasure of displaying three remodel projects this year. All three entries involve our in-house design work which we LOVE to provide!
Good design goes beyond just looking good. The end product needs to function well for the end user, as well as capture any outside views that are there to be had. Unless working with a Historical District Board that has rules to the contrary, on a remodel job I like to see things blended in so you can’t tell where the old stopped and the new began.
In circumstances where an owner is open to it, we like to incorporate universal design values so the home will function well over a broad spectrum of age and life situations. One of my favorite things is integrating historical looks into modern context while using modern materials. My favorite compliment is when people walk into one of our homes and simply say, “WOW!”
Come and see some of these principles put into practice at our 2016 Parade Remodels! Be sure to consult the Parade Guidebook for project times and dates, as they vary with each participant. Make sure not to miss our three remodels below!
751 Montrose Ave
Bringing new life to an aging home! Ready for a new look but with no desire to leave, these homeowners opted for an extensive makeover. Updates to the entire home – both interior & exterior – were seamlessly integrated to make them look original to the home. The large addition provided space for a beautiful new master suite, highlighted with an amazing curb less walk-in shower, on the main floor as well as an additional bedroom and loft area upstairs. Laundry was also relocated from the basement to the main floor.
3325 Troon Ct.
‘Building Character into Homes’ is certainly evident here! With a beautiful setting on the golf course, this home undeniably became the perfect place for entertaining! The basement was finished off to include a bar, billiards area, powder room, media room, and play room. The new 2nd story, which includes three bedrooms and a bathroom, allows access to the amazing new party deck. And we can’t forget to mention the cathedral ceilings with exposed reclaimed barn wood collar ties and spiral HVAC ducts! Be sure to stop and see the finished product!
10652 Paw Paw Lake Drive
The finishing touch and crown jewel to an already remodeled summer cottage turned into a year round home, this space captures the Southern sunlight flooding both the main floor and the walk-out Basement. Taking advantage of the natural grade, this space provides a relaxing sitting area off the Master Bedroom with access to the lake view deck. If you come, you’ll want to sit and stay a while!
Features include:
- Faux concrete slate floor
- Perfect complementary design to the Greek Revival style home
- Glass roof light well provides tons of light as well as natural venting
